Whether you just started your career with the State of Iowa, or if you have already put in decades of

Through decades of exercising their collective-bargaining rights, members of this union have won
increased wages, benefits, and protections on the job in spite of the fact that the climate in State
Government has become increasingly hostile to workers in Iowa. The threats facing you and your co-
workers are real and many. The union gives you a collective voice in protecting yourself and your co-
workers against unfair treatment at work, threats of privatization, and cut backs in your health care
that could cost you hundreds of dollars per month.
Our Local is a democratic, rank and file Union controlled by the membership. Our officers serve on a
voluntary basis and are not paid. All decisions of the union are made by the membership, either
through convention, through elected officers, or through local membership meetings.
All public-sector unions are required to hold a recertification election before negotiating each new
contract. Your union’s next recertification vote will take place October 13–27, 2026. All bargaining
unit members are eligible to vote. Voting DOES NOT make you a union member. You will be able to
